Abstract

The tourist offer of Varaţdinske Toplice is based on the medical tourism which has a very long tradition thanks to the thermal source as the natural resource of this region. As a supplement to the medical tourism it is important to mention cultural tourism because of the archaeological site from the Roman era, and rural tourism which is especially connected with the Toplička Wine Road. Good attractive factors of the city of Varaţdinske Toplice have resulted not only through history but also today, with relatively large number of tourists and overnight staying in comparison with Varaţdinska ţupanija and other bathing resorts of the continental Croatia. This is the reason why tourism had a great impact on the transformation of the city of Varaţdinske Toplice, especially in terms of physiognomic-functional transformation and socio-economic changes of the local population.
