Abstract

Landslides are, with floods and earthquakes, the most common natural disasters in Croatia. Because they causing huge losses, economic and / or social, it's worth it to recognize and possibly prevent. The paper shows how to use GIS analysis in prediction of the potential location's of landslides. For the observed area was selected Lepoglava municipalities. This area, along with adjacent areas, is widely known for the frequent occurrence of landslides. The analysis included factors that are defined as causes of landslide's, ie. the one that caused the existing landslides, such as morphometric (gradient slope, aspect), rainfall, geology, pedology composition, anthropogenic influences, etc. As a result of GIS analysis there was calculated a layer of potential threats to the slope by landslide's divided into 5 categories, from very high through moderate to very low risk.
