Abstract

Knin is one of Croatian cities that underwent devastation during the Homeland War, both in material and social sense. Even though Knin’s economy is currently in poor state, there are significant natural resources which would, through the implementation of adequate economic policy, prompt the development of economy and increase employment. This paper analyses the natural and social basis, the existing economic state as well as the privileges and reliefs which are ensured to all physical and legal persons due to the fact that Knin is considered an area of special state concern. The potentials of each economic branch are defined and an overview of development projects is given. Finally, the author, in her critical overview, points to the issues that are hindering economic development of Knin so that they could be solved and that the economic circumstances of Knin would be changed.
