Abstract

The development of Web 2.0. and new mapping tools has led to rapid growth in a number of interactive web maps. These tools were developed by programmers, and are often targeted to programmers. It is necessary to evaluate the possible application of these tools in geography and cartographically evaluate their products. In order to create interactive web maps of the City of Zagreb, Google Fusion Tables as a database and Google Maps as a mean of visualisation were used. In addition, there is a description of their options. The result of the practical part of this thesis is the web site blizu.net, made in programming languages HTML, JavaScript and PHP. It contains over 30 interactive maps, which are intended for visualization of data via the Internet, and are suitable for viewing via PCs and mobile devices.
