Thesis analyzes changes in the population distribution of Krapina-Zagorje county in the period from 1948 to 2011. Analysis was performed using GIS methods with emphasis on spatial coverage, size and dynamics of changes. General temporal and spatial trends in population density changes and size of settlements are obtained and visualized. More complex GIS analysis methods were used to analyze the changes in altitude and spatial distribution of population. The polarization of population distribution has been confirmed, reflected in a stronger growth of a small number of settlements in valley parts near the major roads and correlated with proven trend in population redistribution from the elevated areas into the valley areas. It has also been noted the existence of a trend in population redistribution in the southern parts of the valley, which is reflected in the minimum shift of the mean centre and the ellipse of distribution of population in the same direction.
