Abstract

Miljevac plateau area is located between the Krka river in the west, river Čikola in the south, Promina Mt. to the north and in the east of the Town of Drniš. Miljevački plato is mostly built of limestone and dolomite. There is no surface streams than rivers Krka and Čikola , but well infiltrates water. Area Miljevački plato is rich in diverse flora and fauna. Many of the speleological objects, about 33 of which are 52% of caves, pits 45% and 3% caverns. On the surface are numerous sinkholes, which improves the plunge into the underground water, and consequently the input of pollution. Waste is a big problem Miljevac plateau. Caves and pits are filled with tons of waste, mostly organic and construction and construction waste in sinkholes. Approximately 33% of the contaminated objects, which are: Španjova jama, Živkova jama, Jama sa smećem, Bezdanka u Bačićima, Smokvača, Bezdanka u Drinovačkom Gaju, Jama u Lokvicama, Rasadnik 1, Rasadnik 2, Lozovača and Golubinka. A large problems are mine areas that remained after the war. The local population is generally older and less environmentally conscious, and the only way to improve the situation is education through the debates and advertising materials, education of young children in school age, and the cleaning action that will involve the local population.
