Abstract

Wine tourism is a relatively new phenomenon in the tourism market. It is based on quality wine and specific characteristics of the wine regions. With the help of secondary sources this thesis presents the basic factors that influences the development of wine tourism, and examples of its development in different parts of the world. The central part is dedicated to the development potentials and the current state of wine tourism in Požega-Slavonia County. Well-known Vineyards Kutjevo, award wining wines and winemakers represent a great potential, but analysis of existing data and survey results suggest that wine tourism is at the beginning and has no greater impact on the area. The main problems are the lack of quality promotion and organization. An additional problem is the fact that the Požega-Slavonia County is not popular and developed touristic destination. The last part of this thesis contains some ideas that could contribute to the development of, not just wine, but also other forms of rural tourism in Požega-Slavonia County.
