Abstract

This thesis presents the conditions and processes that affected the population of Europe. Research included the basic demographic processes in Europe. Favorable natural and geographical features of Europe enabled early settlement, and based on the data sources and literature graphical and tabular analysis reviewed contemporary population distribution, population change and structure, affect on demographic trends and the causes and consequences of these trends. The emphasis was on the importance of population policy in perspective of the European population. The presented data suggest changes and disturbances of demographic processes and structures what will be affect on the total socio-economic development.
