Abstract

Našice area represents space which used to contain former Našice municipality until the end of the year 1992, and today is under the new administrative and territorial division divided into 5 municipalities (Đurđenovac, Donja Motičina, Feričanci, Koška, Podgorač) and the City of Našice. Favorable physical and geographical basis for the agricultural valuation attracted settlers from different parts of Croatia and abroad during the ninetieth and twentieth century. Population of Našice area is currently characterized by strong processes of selective emigration and unfavorable demographic processes. Primary object of this study is Našice subregion with its overall development, while the secondary object is to explore theoretical concepts of regional development. The main goal of this paper is based on an analysis of the current situation in the studied area (that is, spatial, demographic and economic indicators of regional development and the degree of settlement centralization) to determine the factors of regional differences in Našice area and to suggest possible solutions for their leveling throughout the defining of regional spatial models.
