Abstract

In the area of Mursko Središće mining occured in the period since 1921. when they first discovered coal layers in Peklenica until 1972. year when due to the appearance of cheap oil and its derivatives last miner mines were fired. What is today left behind mining is The Memorial Centre of mining in Mursko Sredisce, Miners monument in the city center and the name "City of miners." The impact of mining is evident in the landscape of the area where there are a small hills covered with vegetation called “halde“. They were created from slipways tailings in the process of extracting coal. Using topographic map of Croatian scale of 1:25 000 and GPS device field measurements were performed. Result of these measurements is information of their spatial layout, database that contains morphometric characteristics and basic data on their habitat geomorphological processes and photo documentation.
