Abstract

Studies on transfer RNAs, as amino acid adapters in protein biosynthesis, and aminoacyl-tRNA synthetases, as enzymes that catalyze specific aminoacylation reactions, started in Croatia in the laboratory of Professor @eljko Ku}an in the early 1970s. This paper is an overview of the approaches and ideas that kept many of his collaborators on the same track for several decades.
