Congress tourism is becoming one of the most important forms of tourism in the world market, but in Croatia as well. It is one of the selective forms of tourism that is developing intensively in the last few years, and is mostly associated with cities. Congress tourism in Dubrovnik has become one of the most important forms of tourism in a tourist destination. Aim of this paper is to point out the importance of congress tourism in the destination of Dubrovnik as well as significance of Dubrovnik as a destination in congress market in the South Eastern Europe region. Congress infrastructure and attraction base, as well as the other forms of tourism in the destination are analysed to emphasize the significance of congress tourism which takes an important part in the tourist offer and the economy of the destination. Dubrovnik as a tourist destination has great potential for further development of congress tourism and it is a priority in the future tourism development of the city. Based on the data from 2012, comparative analysis of cities with similar characteristics is made to emphasize Dubrovnik's role in the region of South Eastern Europe. With many strenghts but also weaknesses, with the right development strategy, Dubrovnik has potential to become a distinguishing congress destination in the area of Middle and South Eastern Europe.
