Abstract

The continuous migration of Croatian population throughout history have resulted in the creation of the Croatian diaspora, which is among the largest in the world. Such migrations have left permanent consequences on the structures of Croatian society. In the absence of domicile development potentials and resources, Croatian diaspora is emerging as a logical choice for planning future development of the Croatia. The most significant are demographic, economic and scientific potential of the diaspora which could be a strategic base for the revitalization of Croatia. Given the fact that the Croatian people and Croatian identity are the fundamental determinants of the Croatian state, it is necessary to encourage the return of Croatian immigrants into the country. The Croatian diaspora must be defined as a matter of strategic interest to make valorization of diaspora potential possible.
