Abstract

Geography is an interdisciplinary scientific field that needs synthesis of knowledge from other fields of science to obtain an integral and holistic understanding of features, connections, processes and relationships materialized in a new form and in a different place in space, or in particular, on the geosurface. Understanding of the laws of physics that shape up the space-time continuum is necessary for the research of spatial conditionalities that affect the phenomenon of interest on the geosurface. For geographic research to be relevant and purposeful, it is necessary to be holistic. Because of the limitations of modern science, that necessity also includes metaphysics. Object of geographic research does not only include space and its physical laws, it also incorporates the human being in all of its complexity. Because of that geography alongside the determination of universal laws of physics must also recognize categories like freedom of will, spirituality and artistic and intellectual inspiration as spatial factors. These categories do not emanate from space itself but their influence on spatial structures is immense through rise of cultures on geosurface.
