Abstract

There is a great concentration of commerce, shopping centers and high education institutions in the urban area of Zagreb. In the modern times shopping centers are not perceived just as shopping spots, but also as modern places for leisure time where trade and entertainment are intertwined which makes them a research subject of retail geography. Since they provide a sense of security and comfort, shopping centers are more often places for leisure time among youth which is often topic of sociological and psychological research. This paper examines the factors which influence shopping centre choice among student population of University of Zagreb. By determining declared interests of an average student, and by determining the contents and methods with which shopping centers attract young people into the center, this paper aims to contribute to the research of students’ habits as consumers of shopping center services.
