Abstract

Dryopteris carthusiana agg. is the group of closely related allopolyploid species, which are often morphologically indistinguishable, distributed on Croatian territory and composed of allotetraploids Dryopteris carthusiana (Vill.) H. P. Fuchs and Dryopteris dilatata (Hoffm.) A. Gray, diploid Dryopteris expansa (C. B. Presl) Fraser-Jenkins et Jermy and hybrids. Dryopteris expansa was recognized as a separate species in 1977, but in the Croatian flora was recorded during 2005. By the revision and analysis of the 84 herbarium specimens from collections ZA and ZAHO, the most plant samples (49) has been identified as species D. expansa. Also, the distribution of species from aggregate in Croatia has been determined and identification key has been made.
