Nernst effect of epitaxial Y0.95Ca0.05Ba2(Cu1-xZnx)3Oy and Y0.9Ca0.1Ba2Cu3Oy films

Abstract

We report Nernst effect data for crystalline films of Y0.95Ca0.05Ba2(Cu1-xZnx3Oy (with x = 0, 0.02 and 0.04) and Y0.9Ca0.1Ba2Cu3Oy grown by pulsed laser deposition. We show that our own results and published data for LSCO [1] are consistent with the theory of Gaussian superconducting fuctuations [2]. We also show that Zn doping increases the Nernst coefficient simply because it reduces the in-plane conductivity.
