Abstract

The purpose of this thesis is to examine in what scale did students from settlements varying in size remember common and charateristical plant species, and is there a meaningful difference between male and female students. Then, to research the knowledge of plants and interest of students by using a questionnaire and a test in four grades in Veliki Bukovec Elementary School and four grades of an elementary school in Zagreb. A total of 144 students took part in the research. It was carried out taking the seks of the examinees in account. Based on the results, the conclusion is that there is no significant difference between the knowledge of plants between male and female students and between the students in Veliki Bukovec and in Zagreb. Furthermore, the results have shown that there is no great difference between the interest in plants between male and female students. The students of Veliki Bukovec Elementary School have shown slightly more interest in plants than students in Zagreb.
