Abstract

Population is the foundation of every spatial, regional, economic and social planning. It is also a basic spatial resource and potential. Contemporary demographic picture of Croatia characterize three key processes: aging, depopulation and spatial polarization of the population. Accordingly, it is evident that the demographic future of Croatia is quite uncertain. Studies have shown that Croatia, with no population revitalization, is likely to keep up with demographic extinction. The negativity of these indicators, related to domicile population, is likely to continue and intensify in the future. Based on the analysis of current demographic indicators, the main objective of this thesis is to determine does Croatia still have an opportunity for demographic revitalization and when will the potential revitalization using domicile population be possible.
