Abstract

The aim of this study was to test the effect of Izosan-G as a chlorine disinfectant on drinking water bacteria in order to achieve water safety. It was monitored how long Izosan-G will be active after adding 1.3 g/m3 of water. In this research Colilert and Enterolert methods was applied for proving the presence of coliform bacteria, E. coli and enterococci in drinking water. Complete inhibition of coliform and aerobic mesophilic bacteria, after which the drinking water was safe for seven days was achieved by the addition of Izosan-G. It is proved that Izosan–G is suitable for use as water disinfectant due to its simple applicaton and availability.
