Abstract

Within the Nature Park Telašćica, in the period from 2005 to 2010, a research has been conducted for the purpose of gaining a better knowledge and monitoring the state of coralligenous biocenosis and the influence that temperature changes have on it. The research has been conducted at 8 stations within the Nature Park Telašćica itself. By SCUBA diving coralligenous biocenosis was recorded in situ, i.e. determined in a laboratory from collected samples. All habitats were mapped and the state and local species account of certain communities were described. 9 biocenoses composed of 64 species were recorded. Physicalchemical parameters (temperature, salinity, pH, mass concentration of O2) were measured upto the depth of 40 meters. The measured parameters indicate the temperature increase trend of the sea surface which has an unfavourable effect on coralligenous biocenoses that is not adapted to temperature and water chemistry oscillations. The state found is alarming and shows that unless coralligenous biocenoses are able to adapt and/or acclimatize, consequences will be immense.
