Abstract

This master thesis analyses the representation of fieldwork in geography teaching as a teaching method in primary and secondary schools in Sisak-Moslavina County. The research is based on the program documents analysis, analysis of data gathered during the survey conducted among geography teachers in primary and secondary schools of the research area. The fieldwork teaching was analysed by the method of direct observation. The research results confirmed the importance of fieldwork implementation in teaching geography as an irreplaceable teaching method that enables students to learn in the best way – learning in the field with the joy of discovering, identifying and creating. As such, it emphasizes its role and importance of its implementation in geography teaching, which is designed according to the postulates of modern education and directed towards education for sustainable development. This survey collected data on the frequency of application of fieldwork in teaching geography in primary ahd secondary schools, and the frequency of application in regard to manifestations of fieldwork and ways of implementation. The research results pointed out the main causes and factors that limit greater representation of fieldwork in teaching geography in the research area.
