Abstract

Cave Veternica as one of the most complex hydrological caves in Croatia has been studied from various aspects, but water as a fundamental geomorphic agent whose corrosion-erosion action formed the cave has not been the subject of research. Based on the results of physico-chemical analysis of water sampled indices for water quality was calculated, which is the first application of water quality indices for evaluating water quality in Croatian caves. Also making of Piper diagram was used to determine the origin of water. Based on the results of the analysis the excellent quality of the water in the cave was determined, this may serve as an additional reason for the protection and preservation of water quality in Veternica.
