Abstract

Italian agile frog is a vulnerable species with a decresing population trend. This decrese in numbers is largely due to habitat loss. In this thesis I tried to determine what is the impact of a large number of modifications of water bodies on local populations of Italian agile frog. I compared regulated and nonregulated spawning sites. By comparing the number of spawn between two types of water bodies we concluded that this species prefers nonregulated sites wich have higher percentage of shadow, more trees on shores and branches in water, steeper shores and higher conductivity. Also they have less low vegetation on shores, less surface vegetation and lower water temperatures.
