Abstract

The aim of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of chemotherapeutic agents cisplatin and / or immunomodulators quercetin with / without hyperthermia in Ehrlich ascitess tumour (EAT). We observed survey of animals, number of viable and dead tumour cells and differential analysis of immune and tumour cells in the peritoneal cavity. Tumours were induced by inoculation of 2 x 106 tumour cells in the abdominal cavity of Swiss albino mice. Mice were treated i.p. with solution of quercetin (50 mg kg-1) 7 or 3 days before implantation of EAT cells. Immediately after implantation of EAT cells in the abdominal cavity, mice were treated two times with 2 ml of saline heated at 37 ⁰C or 43 ⁰C (hyperthermal treatment) and cytostatic cisplatin at doses of 5 mg kg-1 or 10 mg kg-1. Final result analysis determined that hyperthermia, chemotherapy and immunotherapy with quercetin demonstrate synergistic antitumour effect on mice bearing EAT. Immunomodulation with quercetin increases toxicity of chemotherapeutic agents with hyperthermia, which is probable possible mechanism of antitumour efficacy. It appears that quercetin inhibits tumor growth, reduces the toxicity of chemotherapeutical agents on healthy cells without diminishing its toxicity on tumor cells.
