The main research subject of this paper was carbonized plant remains from tumulus 7 from the archaeological locality - Kaptol-Gradci near Požega, dated to the Early Iron Age (Hallstatt). Altogether 640 fruits, seeds and fruits fragments were separated from 38 samples. The most numerous were findings of cereals (615 plant remains, 96%; Triticum dicoccum, Triticum spelta, Triticum cf. monococcum and Hordeum vulgare). Other findings were weeds and ruderal plants (17 plant remains) and remains of wild fruits (3 plant remains; Cornus mas and Corylus avellana). Macrofossils were found in the burning grave near pottery fragments and traces of soot. They were probably placed on the funeral pyre with the departed and laid later in the grave. The cereals found were probably grown in the vicinity of the investigated locality. The key for identification of carbonized cereals was also maid.
