Abstract

Research on copepod biodiversity was conducted in anchialine habitats of Croatia. Sampling was made by Croatian Natural History Museum in period from April 2006 to January 2008. Four orders of Copepods were determined with 508 individals of order Cyclopoida, 1126 Calanoida, 9 Misophrioida and 103 Harpacticoida. Orders Calanoida and Cyclopodia were dominant on all stations. Highest abundance of Copepoda was found at Jama Bijaka (Island Brač). Simpson's and Shannon – Weiner's diversity index, richness of species and evenness were calculated. Non – metric Multi-Dimensional Scaling Analysis (MDS) was also made, using Bray –Curtis similarity resemblance matrix. Diversity indexes showed highest value at Jama na rtu Lenga (Island Mljet) which is also the station with highest value of species richness. With MDS Analysis high similarity was determined within land located stations and also within island stations of Central and South Dalmatia.
