Abstract

Main purpose of this thesis was collection and taxonomical determination of Pleistocene fossil flora found in lacustrine sediments of South Velebit Channel, as well as the interpretation of Pleistocene paleoclimatic conditions. Total of 79 specimens was collected and 15 taxa of fossial flora were determined, wich belong to 9 families. Fossil gastropods and bivalvs were also found in lacustrine sediments and micro-analysis of sediments reveald locally abundant ostracod shells. The most abundant plant specimens were Taxodium sp. leafs, followed by Ouercus sp. and Zelkova sp. The sediments were deposited in proglacial lacustrine environment, with mixed deciduous temprerate flora in surrounding area.
