Imazalil and cypermethrine can be detected in alimetaries in Republic of Croatia. The aim of this research was to explore interactive effect of these pesticides and their combination on biochemical determinants of Swiss mice in vivo. The animals were distributed into groups (6-7 animals/group). Each group was exposed to the NOAEL (No observable adverse effect level) doses of the each individual pesticide and their combination (imazalil+cypermethrine, NOAEL, 1:1). Pesticides were applied orally during 28 days on a daily basis. After that periode the following biochemical parameters were determined: LDH (lactate dehydrogenase), ALT (alanine transaminase), AST (aspartate aminotransferase), ALP (alkaline phosphatase), GGT (gamma glutamyl transferase), α-amilase, CK (creatine-kinase), creatine and total proteins. Individual pesticide indicate different toxic potential (cypermethrin higher toxic potential than imazalil), generally characterized by increase in marker enzyme acitivities. These two pesticides have synergistic effects. Low dose exposure to combination potentiates their individual toxicity to cause subtle biochemical and pathologic changes in liver and peripheral tissue.
