Abstract

Replicate macroinvertebrate samples were collected from September 2006 to July 2011 on three stations on the Gojačka Dobra River downstream of the HPP “Lešće”, and on two dominating types of microhabitats, moss and stony substrate. A standard rectangular benthic net of 200 μm mesh size was used while sampling. On the station D1 quantitative samples were collected on moss and stony substrate while on the stations D2 and D3 samples were collected only on moss. The composition and structure of macroinvertebrates communities and changes in community composition and abundance were determined. The highest differences were found on the station closest to the dam, which were reflected in the increasing abundancy of Diptera and decreased abundancy of Plecoptera, Coleoptera and Gastropoda. In conclusion, the construction of the dam "Lešće" caused changes in the physico-chemical parameters of water, which caused changes in the composition and structure of macroinvertebrate communities.
