Dunjak area is part of Kordun, located between Slunj and Vojnić. This area is located between Dinaric Mountains System and the Pannonian Basin. The researched area covers an area of 20.8 square kilometers. Main flow and erosion basis of largest part of researched area is river Glina that flows through southern part of researched area. Dunjak area is located in the peripheral parts of the Petrova Gora in the immediate vicinity of the fault, which is border between Dinaric and Supradinaric. The researched area is mainly composed of sedimentary rocks of the lower Triassic in which are dominated mica sandstones and carbonates (limestone and dolomite). The specificity of researched area is that it has karst, fluviokarst and fluvio-denudational genetic types of relief as a result of it's transitional and boundary geological and geomorphological position. Dunjak area marks the existance of surface hydrographic network in which karst features are developed, especially sinkholes. In the central karstifed part of Dunjak remnants of the surface paleohydrographic network (dry and blind valleys) are visible. Also, in the central karstifed part of Dunjak a cave „Pećina kod Dunjaka“ is located which is also assumed to be a part of paleohydrographic network.
