Abstract

Fieldwork is an unavoidable method in geography education, which considers geographical area in all its interconnectivity, dependence, indivisible unity with the natural basis of social development. Field mapping is a complex activity that integrates the method of demonstration and direct graphical method, and provides multiple benefits (students' activity, knowledge durability, sensibility of the observed space and detection of spatial logic). The possibility of visualization and presentation of geographical content in the form of maps is one of the basic means of human communication. In this thesis, the possibility of application of field mapping in geography teaching is examined, and it is given a description of the field mapping of the central functions made by the second grade high school students in Zaprešić.
