Abstract

This thesis shows the demogeographic changes of the Dugo Selo district from the mid 19th century until the present day. Presented is the effect of geographic location, natural basis and historical and geographical development of the emergence and development of the population of the researched area. Demogeographic changes are shown with the analysis of population size and spatial distribution, total, natural and spatial circulation, different population structures and effects on spatial development. The purpose of this thesis was to research demogeographic changes of the Dugo Selo district, their extent, influence and effects on future demogeographic trends and to present this processes with statistic and analitic methods and with modern GIS tools. Analysis resulted with differentiated development of the population in researched period between settlements with better transport connections and periphery settlements. Most of the settlements in the present day marks population growth by imigration while depopulation is present in periphery and more isolated settlements. In spite of the population growth the region of Dugo Selo shows clear demographic signs of population aging.
