Abstract

Syntopic synergism of two epigean shrimp species has been reaserched in crenal of the river Krupa: Fontogammarus dalmatinus S. Karaman, 1931 and Gammarus balcanicus Schäferna, 1922. Triplicative monthly samples of macrozoobenthos were collected in period between April 2011 until April 2012 with Surber net on various microhabitats (moss, mesophital, microphital) in the Krupa River spring. Basic physio-chemical parameters of water were measured. The goal of this thesis was to show variability of physico-chemical parameters, to determine amphipod community structure, to determine density of populations and proportions of investigated species as well as seasonal differences in population density considering different types of microhabitats. Based on results, it has been conducted that both species coexisted on all microhabitat types of the Krupa River spring area during sampling period. Significant differences in the number of individuals of analyzed species in all three microhabitats (p<0.05) have not been conducted. Subspecie F. d. dalmatinus is significantly dominant species in the crenal area of the Krupa River than G. balcanicus. Both species preffered moss as a microhabitat.
