Abstract

National parks are one of nine categories of protected areas in Croatia. Invertebrates in Croatia are not sufficiently investigated, and literature data are scarce. This paper presents a brief overview of protected and endangered invertebrate species described with ecology, habitats and causes which implicated classification in nine categories according to International Union For The Conservation Of Nature And Natural Resources (IUCN). With protection of certain areas also are covered habitats for a numerous species. Invertebrates play a key role in food chains of many ecosystems, they are good indicators of environmental changes, and further studies of their biology, ecology and protection would be very valuable.
