Abstract

This thesis presented a study of butterfly in the Nature Park Medvednica and their distribution, faunistical and biogeographical features. Transect method is determined by the 10 localities based on different altitudes, but are distinct ecological features, from the bottom to the top of Medvednica (Sljeme, 1035 m). Fieldwork butterfly samples were collected using entomological nets, which are then determined by standard keys. The research lasted for April to September 2013. with 15 field dates. As a result of this work we received a list of species and their distribution, abundance and frequency and proved the presence of four species from the Red List of butterflies of Croatian. Faunistical analysis indicated 51 species from five families, and biogeographical analysis determined to belong to species and species dominance Eurosiberian biogeographical belonging. Finally made a comparison of results with butterfly fauna in Učka, Velebit, Karlovac and Dinara based Sørensen similarity index. Results similarities were 64.3%, 56.1%, 67.8% and 45.3%. Data obtained in this study are the first results for this part of the Medvednica.
