Chamois (Rupicapra rupicapra L. 1758) is a native species that belongs to the order Artiodactyla. The range of chamois includes the European Alps, the Balkan Dinaric Alps, the Carpathians and the Asia Minor. In year 974 population was reintroduced to the northern Velebit. There are present alpine and balkan subspecies. The aim of the research was to track and estimate structure of chamois: sex and age structure and activity on a daily and nightly basis. The study used non-invasive method of monitoring using sensory infrared (IR) cameras. The study was conducted on North Velebit on location Velike Brisnice from 01th 01. - 20th 02. 2008. The camera recorded 294 females and 71 males and 365 adult and 206 young individuals. The method of tracikng using IR sensor cameras proved to be very useful because it provides an opportunity to collect large amounts of data without disturbing wildlife and the presence of researchers.
