Abstract

In this thesis the spinor formalism of the classic general theory of relativity is built, beginning with formal algebraic properties, up to the behavior on manifolds. All the famous tensorial objects like the Riemann tensor and the electromagnetic field tensor are redefined inside the spinor formalism. The spinor equivalents of the Maxwell field equations, and the Einstein field equations are found. We get 12 complex components of the covariant derivative which are enough to describe the space time, with the help of Newman- Penrose field equations. We postulate the equation of motion of massless particles of arbitrary spin in curved space-time. Also, The use of the spinor formalism is shown in the description of light congruences and in the proof of the Goldberg-Sachs theorem.
