Abstract

Today, wastewater treatment is one of the most important issues in the world, and many scientists are working in order to improve more economic and cheaper techniques. One of the biggest pollutants are phosphates. Wastewater needs to be under control constantly in order to improve the better quality of water and to prevent the pollution. The proces of biological removing of phosphates is based on the activity of phosphate-accumulating bacteria. Scientists are working to discover which of these organisms is the most competent in removing phosphate. This scientific research will be very important in the future, because we need economically and ecologically acceptable method of wastewater treatment in order to prevent eutrophication and pollution of enviroment.
