Compared to neighbouring countries, Croatia is a country with many national parks in relation to its size. In Croatia today there are 8 national parks, and they are: Plitvice, Paklenica, Risnjak, Mljet, Kornati, Brijuni, Krka and Sjeverni (Northern) Velebit. Great natural diversity of our country is very big reason for the diversity of our national parks. Three of parks are ‘mountain parks’ (Risnjak, Paklenica, Sjeverni Velebit) and also are at least visited parks for tourists because tourists are not always mountaineers. Honestly, my favourite national parks are those because only in them you can enjoy the beauty of nature and silence all year. Three island national parks (Kornati, Mljet, Brijuni) are more visited the mountain. If you rent (or purchase) a boat you can easily tour the parks. Their visitors are foreign tourists, especially those with more money. The most visited Croatian national park are Plitvice lakes. Behind them, by the number of guests, followed the National Park Krka. These two parks are a clear example of the rich karst hydrography/ hydrography of debris (?) with numerous waterfalls and travertine dams. 2,140,759 tourists visited Croatian national parks last year, of which 1,781,999 foreign. Almost half of them visited Plitvice Lakes, while 696,000 visited Krka National Park. Three quarters of registered visitors to Croatian national parks visits these two parks. An interesting fact is that even 80 percent of visitor returns to the national park, which is sufficient proof that a trip was good.
