Abstract

Nature Park Lonjsko polje is located in the continental part of Republic of Croatia, and encompasses wetland area the size of 506 km2 which includes Lonjsko and Mokro field. Nature Park is located on good traffic position near the Croatian capital of Zagreb and other potential tourist source markets. Area due to its location on the former border between Europe and the Orient has a rich history, and because of its location in the floodplain of the River Sava has a long tradition of co-existence of people with nature visible through the way of life, farming and indigenous species and has the characteristics of a unique cultural landscape. Problem of explored area is a demographic situation of settlements located within the Nature Park. Tourism in this area appeared at the beginning of this century and with the agriculture is the main share of its demographic renewal and revitalization. The paper presents the current state of tourism supply and demand as well as the perspectives of its further development.
