Abstract

Karlovac is among the last major cities in Croatia where flood protection system is not fully built and for this reason some parts of the city are constantly flooded. As an example, Gradac settlement which was due to unfinished flooding system, three times damaged by the high waters of the river Kupa in 2014. The paper is based on preparation of digital elevation model as the basis on which hydrological flooding model was made, or simulation of flood. It represents the possibility of developing a specific flood scenarios and creates a map of flood hazard for the studied area. Based on the flood hazard analysis, analysis of exposure was preformed for the study area, or how many households and roads were affected by the floods.
