Abstract

This work is divided in three parts. The first part comprises the term of online learning, its development through history and its advantages and disadvantages. The second part is about the Moodle platform and its possibilities, while the third part is focused on the course itself and the Moodle/Loomen application in teaching of mathematics. Distance learning platforms represent an enormous progress in today’s society, information and communications technology and education. The traditional teaching should be combined with some kind of online learning in order to increase the student’s motivation to learn, explore and apply through game and innovative technology. Different possibilities that Moodle platform offers for realization of teaching of mathematics were shown. However despite all the advantages of e-learning, sadly we have to be aware of all the limitations we encounter while working with it and such system. Though distance learning was developed to a current maximum, it is still in the early phase of development and can not replace a teacher and his role in personal communication.
