Studied deposits on the island Vir are analysed micropaleontologically and sedimentologically. Twelve different mikrofacies were determined. The age of deposits were confirmed by conductive fossils. Upper Cenomanian deposits are the oldest with index fossils Chrysalidina gradata and Broeckina (Pastrikella) balcanica. Further more are Lower Turonian deposits with Marginotruncana schneegansi and Whiteinella cf. baltica, and Middle Turonian-Coniacian deposits with Scandonea samnitica, Moncharmotia apenninica and Dicyclina schlumbergeri. Eocene deposits transgresivlly comes the Cretaceous deposits. The Eocene age starts with, Cuisian, Lower Eocene deposits which age confirmed with fossils Chrysalidina cf. alva, C. makarskae, Coskinolina liburnica, C. douvillei and Discocyclina sp. Lutetian, Middle Eocene age of deposits confirmed with fossils Orbitoclypeus douvillei, Asterocyclina sp. and Discocyclina sp. Upper Cretaceous sediments were deposited in shallow subtidal environment, charaterized by laminated and non-laminated limestones similar structural caracteristics, except in the Lower Turonian when the deposits area are flooded platform. Eocene sediments are deposited within subtidal environment which gradually become deeper, as seen through the microfosils association of larger benthic foraminifera, and pelagic foraminifera within the uppermost part of Eocene limestones.
