Abstract
Thesis "George Polya  contribution to mathematical education" begins with biography of George Polya, and continues with a short overview of his three major works: "How to solve it", "Mathematical discovery" and "Mathematics and plausible reasoning". The following describes what should be taught in Mathematics classes, and a relation between learning and teaching. The second part of thesis, "How to solve a mathematical problem", is associated with a list of proposals and suggestions on solving mathematical problems. In the third part "Scientific research work at secondary school level" there are reasons given why the scientific method, induction and discovery are important in mathematics. In the end, there are two examples given to illustrate the application of scientific methods and mathematical induction.
