Abstract

By entering Hungary in the European Union and with the beginning of preparations for the Croatian entry is initiated the development and implementation of the project of the European Union and since then the possibilities of cross-border cooperation have been increasing, which was of low intensity due to the peripheral geographical location of both border regions in relation to the most developed parts of both countries. In this thesis is made problematic analysis of area from which is made a synthesis of demographic, socio-economic, functional, physiognomic, cultural and environmental problems sorted by priority and an overview is presented of all cross-border projects from the last financial period. The problem analysis was the basis for the selection of several projects whose results were further analyzed. For comparison with them are analyzed several transnational projects important for the region. The implementation of cross-border and transnational EU projects in the Croatian-Hungarian border area has significantly increased regional cooperation of both countries. The projects have improved the solvation of many problems, which means that the role of the EU projects in regional cooperation of Croatia and Hungary in future will be very great.
