Abstract

The process of economic and political transition during 1990s and 2000s had great impact on transformation of spatial structure of Zagreb. New economical, political and institutional system created new paradigm of spatial planning which is integrated in new socioeconomic framework. New legislative defined new acts of spatial planning which reinforced the structure and hierarchy of planning documents which contain key rules in managing postsocialist Zagreb. Formation of that kind of city and his future is yet unpredictable but the reflection of broad transitional processes on morphological, functional and social structure is evident. Dominant processes which take place in Zagreb will be explained through cartographic sources and fieldwork on main locations of transformations. This work will sugest main processes and position of Zagreb spatial change in context of postsocialist city on the way to become capitalist city.
