Abstract

The objective of this master thesis is the analysis of representation of fieldwork in geography teaching as a teaching method in program documents, comparison with representation of fieldwork in elementary and high schools of Split inland and its performance in the research area. The methods used in this master thesis are the analysis of program documents and analysis of data collected by a survey. The survey collected data on the frequency of application of fieldwork in geography teaching in primary and secondary schools of research area. Also, the fieldwork teaching was analyzed by the method of direct observation. The hypothesis on importance of fieldwork implementation as an irreplaceable teaching method in geography, that enables students to learn and experience in reality, was checked. As such, fieldwork in geography teaching is labelled as “the most geographic” method and strategy. Furthermore, the research results point out the main causes and factors that limit greater representation of fieldwork in teaching geography.
