Abstract

Direct graphic method compared to other methods represents the most effective and the most flexible way of transfering knowledge to students. Using this method in the teaching content of geography is very effective, and in some topics really needed. Analyzing 32 directly observed classes both in primary and high schools (16 classes in primary school and 16 in high school) it can be concluded that direct graphic method is under-represented in the teaching content of geography. In observed classes this method is represented in only 21,88 per cent. According to the teaching content, this method is mostly used in natural (physical) geography and less frequently in social and regional geography. Considering the type of school, direct graphic method is more present in high schools than in primary schools. Along with the quantitative analysis, it's also given a critical review of the sketches and diagrams drawn on directly observed classes, as well as certain proposals for more innovative use of direct graphic method in classes in which it was not used.
