Abstract

Wine tourism is a relatively new form of tourism in Međimurje County which started to develop when the first wine roads were opened. The project which stimulated it's development is called „The Međimurje Wine Road“ representing a 30 km long cultural-touristic route established in 2004 in the area of four municipalities in the Upper Međimurje region. Wine tourism is based on high-quality wines and the specific landscape of vineyards. Earlier studies have shown that wine tourism is just an additional activity for most wineries due to the fact that wine producers focus on selling wine and placement of quality wines on the market as their most important activities. Through this thesis the results of the „Međimurje Wine Road“ achived so far are analyzed, as well as wine producer's attitudes and opinions about the current state of wine tourism in Međimurje. The results of the questionnarie survey used in this thesis are presented graphically and in tables. The final chapter deals with future development potentials of wine tourism in Međimurje County and delivers SWOT analysis based on the author's research.
